The Bridge Builder

By Will Allen Dromgoole

An old man going a lone highway,

Came, at evening cold and gray,

To a chasm vast and deep and wide.

Through which was flowing a sullen tide.

The old man crossed in the twilight dim,

The sullen stream had no fear for him;

But he turned when safe on the other side

And built a bridge to span the tide.

"Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near,

"You are wasting your strength with building here;

Your journey will end with the ending day,

You never again will pass this way;

You've crossed the chasm, deep and wide,

Why build this bridge at evening tide?"

The builder lifted his old gray head;

"Good friend, in the path I have come," he said,

"There followed after me to-day

A youth whose feet must pass this way.

This chasm that has been as nought to me

To that fair-haried youth may a pitfall be;

He, Too, must cross in the twilight dim;

Good friend, I am building this bridge for him!"

Since" faith cometh by hearing", how important can it be, what we allow ourselves to hear. We should not allow our ears to be exposed to anything but the truth of the Gospel for any length of time.

POEM

Every believer can do it. {You don't have to be an expert}

All you do is tell someone that they too, can become friends with God, and get His blessings and favor, the unsearchable riches of Christ, now and forever. That, God wants to be a part of their life (wherever they're at)..."and it's easy to do, just believe what Jesus did for you on the cross".

If you do it with love in your heart, you cannot fail.

Let the Holy Spirit do the convincing. {Don't judge people}

Don't win them to your church, win them to Jesus.

It is legal in the US.

It is the undeserved, super-kind, goodness of God, given as a gift, which gets people to change. {when they hear about it}

Christ, in you, will enable you to prosper, in everything you do.

Be a grace magnet, attracting the grace of God (Eph.1:6).

{People are also attracted to grace}

The Lord gives us the words to say;

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,

as though God did beseech you by us:

we pray you in Christ's stead,

be ye reconciled to God.

 For he hath made him to be sin for us,

who knew no sin;

that we might be made

the righteousness of God in him.

2 Cor 5:20-21     KJV

So faith comes from hearing,

and hearing by the word of Christ.
Rom 10:17  NASU

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children :

and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
Prov 13:22 KJV

 If we leave an inheritance of truth, to future generations (the truth of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ), it will help preserve the freedom which we have so abundantly experienced in our lifetime, for our loved ones.

Each generation must believe on its own. What better way to help future generations than to give them a good understanding of The Word of Christ, The Gospel Of Grace, The So Good It Has to Be True News.

The truth will enable faith in our children, their children and many generations after them (if the Lord does not yet return).
